About Your Workshop
Shibori, is the art of Japanese tie-dying, Shibori felt is a technique of tying objects into felt during the process, then continuing the felting to create a beautiful sculpted piece of fabric. Create the perfect surface for embroidery or a decorative scarf with scrumptious textures. A variety of objects can be tied into the pre felt including coins, glass pebbles, stones strips of wood, some of these can be stitched also, the finished felt retains the shaping made by the tied objects. Its the continuing felt process that locks the fibres in shape so it holds when the ties are removed. If using a variety of yarns, ties and stitches can be left in the finished felt as an option to add interest.
On this day workshop we will make a collection of pre-felts, in a variety of complimentary colours. Then a variety of objects will be tied into the felt ready for continuing the felt process and making beautiful textures.
