A Tomte – a mythological creature from Nordic folklore today typically associated with the winter solstice and the Christmas season. It is generally described as being no taller than 90 cm (35 in), having a long white beard, and wearing a conical or knit cap in red or some other bright colour.
About the workshop
Needle felting is fast becoming one of the most popular forms of model making in textiles. Enjoy a festive workshop learning the technique of needle felting. Using a barbed needle and lots of wooly fibres including lovely Wensleydale curly locks make an adorable Tomte. The perfect adornment for your Festive table or window to stand around 10cm tall.
You Will Learn
How to sculpt and shape wool batt using a specific barbed needle. Needle felting uses special ‘barbed’ needles, repeatedly stabbing into wool fleece. This tangles the fibres together, building the layers and shaping to model and create your own miniature felt sculpture. No hand or machine sewing involved.
Suitable for all a festive fun workshop.
All the materials, and lovely festive nibbles, tea and coffee.
During the day fibres and equipment will be available to purchase if you become hooked.
