Colour and fluff, a perfect way to spend an evening making a piece of felt to introduce you to the world of felt making, for beginners.
Choose you your colours from the wonderful range of merino fibres stocked in the shop (all materials are included in the workshop) Linda will teach you how to handle the fibres to get the best results; we will make a square of felt, loosely interpreting a sea or landscape. Once happy with your design learn how to wet and soap your fibres covering with net to keep them in place. Work in the warm water then begin the felting process.
The last step is the full the fibres this is when the fibres start to shrink – creating a fabric, correct rinsing follows then remove as much water as possible then you will be able to take home your first piece of felt and leave to dry flat in a warm place.
Handmade felt create a beautiful surface for you to embroider into once dry, if you need a new stitch surface to experiment with of just want to try your hand at simple felt making this is the evening for you.
