About your course:


12 weeks of technique led practice, the sessions are 2 ½ hours and filled with a great variety of processes including eco printing, mark making with rust, sun print/cyanotype, photo transfer. These pieces are then used to inspire and create your stitch journal; you will make Suffolk puffs, waxed envelopes, reverse hexie’s, chenille pages, embroidered covered buttons we will layer, weave, make inches,  cords and more.

Gathering is the theme for the journal, it’s really up to you how you interpret the word, in the past we have been inspired by family, gardens, words, memories, holidays or just create a collection of journal pages with stitch that responds to the marks.

You will need over the weeks

Your sewing kit,

Please collect;

  • leaves, plants, petals. a list will be provided for you for which plants work better.
  • small rusty objects.
  • vintage fabrics – linen ware, doilies etc.
  • buttons, lace, fasteners ie hook and eye, snap fasteners.
  • threads, yarns,
  • photographs

Provided for you:

Over the 12 weeks Linda will supply fabrics prepared for dye, required for specific sessions to be paid for on the day. Also a weekly list will be given out for the following week so you know what will be needed.

This is mainly a hand sewing course but you are welcome to use sewing machines for certain techniques either on the course or at home.

Our Creative Thread Studio sits above our new shop, at 68b Church Street. We opened on the 21st July 2018,

The studio space offers excellent light to work and air conditioning, comfy chairs and two work surfaces for you. We have ample plug sockets and ironing surfaces, facilities to provide refreshments, a microwave.

However the studio is on the first floor. We can offer to carry your machines and bags up stairs for you.
