About your workshop;
Using the wet felt technique make yourself a perfect fit, warm, woolly slippers using the softest merino fibres which will available for you to buy on the day. You will learn how to make a pattern and how to use the resist technique, tips on design to make your slippers unique.
Felt making is a wonderful process, you will need a little felting experience to make these slippers, it will be a busy fun day with Marieke, she will guide you through each stage to make a pair of slippers which fit like a glove!
Marieke is a very talented and largely self-taught felt artist who happened upon the history of felt and felt making whilst examining the use of wool in sustainable living. She loves the fact that fleece can be processed and reworked through felting into something equally beautiful and useful that will last for many years. so creating positive environmental impact. Marieke lives in the beautiful Eden Valley her work is constantly inspired by her surroundings,
Skill Level: you will need some felt making experience. You will also need flexibility, your slippers will be moulded round your feet! the perfect way to get a perfect fit.
What you need to bring on the day
- Two of towels
- An apron
- a washing-up bowl
- Your merino fibres can be bought on the day.
There will be lots of tea, coffee and cake to keep you going.
