About The Workshop:
Over the course of four weeks you will learn two fundamental beading techniques; Brick stitch and Peyote stitch. Lynda will teach you how to design your own patterns, how to draft them and then how to work your design into a beautiful beaded needle holder. You will gain an understanding of how the stitches connect together and subsequently develop an understanding of which stitch is suitable for the project you’re working on.
By the end of the four weeks you will have built a bank of knowledge and will hopefully have gained the confidence to design and work on your own pieces using Brick or Peyote stitch. You will also have an understanding of how both stitches can be taken further, for example how they can be manipulated to achieve a certain look or shape.
Dates and Times:
Mon 4, 11, 18 and 25 November
10 – 1pm
Skill level: Suitable for beginners.
You will learn two basic beading stitches, Brick stitch and Peyote stitch. By designing and creating your own projects you will see how versatile these two stitches are as well as build an understanding of how to design and implement beaded projects.
About the Artist:
Having spent a lifetime learning how to use a needle, and always being interested in learning new skills, I was introduced to beading about 20 years ago. At the time it was quite unusual in the UK but becoming increasingly popular, as at the time it was taking the US by storm. I was hooked, and joined the beadworkers guild when it began over here. Over the years I have been a member of beading groups, and we have exhibited our work. I have taught others to enjoy the craft over the last 15yrs, and still I learn more very time I start a new piece of work.
