Spending the day with Anne Brooke is always a pleasure, Anne has been teaching for Creative Thread for 4 years, the workshops are always popular, fun and inspirational…
Anne popped over to Garstang early October to teach her Stitched Collage workshop, this is the method she uses for her own work which retail throughout the Northwest. Have a look at how our day went..
As you can see the collages are fabulous with a varied choice of subject matter,
The morning was spent cutting, tearing and gluing ready for machine stitching in the afternoon. The majority of the paper used was wallpaper, Anne is often found in DIY stores under her alternative guise an interior designer, hence the extensive range of wall paper samples!
Machine free motion embroidery brings the collages together, black or dark thread interprets the drawn line, which adds character, So we had a couple of hours in the afternoon lulled by the hum of the machines.
Tea and cake administered by 2.30 and then it was time for finishing off with hand embroidery, beads and buttons… Most pieces were finished, I hope everyone had fun, thank you Anne and everyone who attended a great day…..
