Paper Birds with textile artist Anne Brooke

This is a new workshop technique with Anne.

Date: Saturday 1st April
Time: 10am - 4pm
Venue: Kirkland and catterall Memorial Hall, Churchtown Nr Garstang

Two magazines and a sewing machine, this is a minimal challenge, create a garden bird canvas using one of Anne’s templates or make your own template with the guidance from Anne. Looking at colour, textures, shade and form, Anne will demonstrate how to layer papers to create your bird then show you how to machine stitch the details add hand embroidery ready to finish and mount on a box canvas.

The perfect workshop where you don’t need to bring everything and the kitchen sink.
For all birds you will need the following…then select your birds requirements list.
 2 Magazines (if possible a matt and a shiny one)
 Glue stick and scissors
 Sewing Machine. (Check you have your power cable and pedal.)
Please ensure it is in good working order and if you have it, please bring your manual

 Darning or free machine foot
 Hand embroidery needles

Blue, yellow, black and white machine thread (can be variegated)
White Pearle or stranded thread.

Brown, red and cream machine thread (can be variegated to add an extra effect)
Brown, red and white Pearle or stranded cotton
(Optional a metallic gold)

White, black and grey machine threads (can be variegated)
White and black Pearle or stranded threads

Variety of brown and cream machine threads (can be variegated)
White, cream and dark brown Pearle or stranded threads.

Mistle Thrush Anne Brooke a Creative Thread workshop

Anne will provide Templates for each of the above birds. Background paper Additional magazines Buttons for embellishment (but feel free to bring your own) Box canvas to mount your work onto, for a small fee.

If you would like to use your own image bring it with you. You can either create your own template or Anne will give you a hand with this. For your own bird please bring machine and embroidery threads that match your birds colours.

Terms and Conditions

Booking for all workshops is essential to avoid disappointment.

Please contact Linda either via email or phone to confirm there is a place available for the workshop you wish to attend. Your place will then be reserved for 10 days whilst you arrange payment either by cheque or BACs payment.

Creative Thread Workshops reserves the right to cancel a workshop if insufficient numbers enrol – we will either return your payment or offer an alternative date.

Payment is non-refundable if you cancel within 2 weeks of the workshop date. We will try our best to fill your place, if we do we will refund your payment or you can use your payment towards a future booking.
