Free Machine Embroidery & Applique for beginners

Date: Sat 3rd June
Time: 10am - 4pm
Venue: United Reformed Church Hall, Garstang

Use your machine needle as a drawing tool, and create a selection of samples suitable for decorating bags books or cards. Learn how to set up your machine for free machine embroidery, have fun making samples; practice the technique with & without a hoop.

You will be guided through drawing, writing and appliquéing fabric. Perfect first steps to free machine embroidery.
Experience
You need to be familiar with your sewing machine with some confidence in machine sewing or have attended Machine sewing for the Terrified, prior to this workshop

There will be lots of time to experiment with this exciting technique, we will start with the basics and learn how to master this fun free motion stitch method.

Please make sure before you book this workshop that you can drop the feed dogs on your sewing machine and you have an open toe darning foot.

There will be two machines available to hire on the day for £10

What you need
Sewing machine, instruction manual, thread, open toed darning foot, or darning foot to fit you machine. Sewing machine needles, sewing kit.
1/2 metre calico or similar like curtain lining is quite a firm tight weave fabric, perfect for practicing.
Small snippets of patterned fabric, offcuts from fat quarters, there will be some available on the day.
Hoop, 10 inches diameter, The depth of the hoop must pass under your machine pressure foot, so not deeper than 1/4 inch.
Thread.
I will have a selection of drawing ideas.
Lunch.

Booking for all workshops is essential to avoid disappointment.

Please contact Linda either via email or phone to confirm there is a place available for the workshop you wish to attend. Your place will then be reserved for 10 days whilst you arrange payment either by cheque or BACs payment.

Creative Thread Workshops reserves the right to cancel a workshop if insufficient numbers enrol – we will either return your payment or offer an alternative date.

Payment is non-refundable if you cancel within 2 weeks of the workshop date. We will try our best to fill your place, if we do we will refund your payment or you can use your payment towards a future booking.
